- Mark O’Donovan, JPMorgan Chase’s international consumer banking chief, will become the bank’s next head of human resources in January, CEO Jamie Dimon said Tuesday in a memo shared with Banking Dive.
- O’Donovan will succeed Robin Leopold, who is retiring, Dimon said.
- Daniel Llano Manibardo, meanwhile, will succeed O’Donovan as CEO of international consumer banking. Llano Manibardo led the launch of the Chase consumer bank in Germany in May and was responsible for building its Berlin-based team.

O’Donovan’s move to the top of HR means he’ll also become a member of JPMorgan’s operating committee and relocate to New York City from London.
O’Donovan, who became CEO of international consumer banking in 2025, is a 30-year veteran of JPMorgan Chase. As CFO of the lender’s commercial and investment bank, he held an integral role in integrating First Republic into JPMorgan following an acquisition of the failed lender in 2023.
O’Donovan has also served as JPMorgan’s global controller and CEO of Chase Auto as well as the bank’s home lending business, according to the memo.
Leopold and O’Donovan will work together on a transition during 2027’s first quarter, the bank said.
Leopold is wrapping up a four-decade career in banking. She joined JPMorgan Chase in 2010 and took the helm of HR in 2018, according to her LinkedIn profile.
“Robin has been instrumental in transforming how we manage our company and how we develop, recruit, counsel and interact with our employees — and she has done so during a remarkable period of growth,” Dimon said Tuesday.
The CEO noted some of the challenges the company faced during Leopold’s tenure, including the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical hostilities and the rise of artificial intelligence.
“No matter the challenge, Robin has brought integrity, wisdom and exceptional judgment to every matter she tackles,” Dimon said, describing her as “clear-headed” and “results-oriented.”
“While I’m sad we are losing such a valuable partner and friend, I’m so happy for Robin and her family,” Dimon said.
In his new role, Llano Manibardo will report to Troy Rohrbaugh, one of two executives JPMorgan named co-president in June.
