The federal government’s HR office, known as the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, lost 35% of its staff in just over a year, or over 1,000 workers, according to an analysis released by the Government Accountability Office. The losses, which track with the beginning of President Donald Trump’s second term, “risk worsening pre-existing skills gaps that GAO previously recommended OPM address,” the report said.

Managers are considered one of the key levers for employee development, but they often lack the support necessary to actually assist with that development, according to a recently released AMA study. If managers don’t receive proper training in leadership, learning opportunities generally at a company may flounder, the study noted.
