The performance review has changed shape considerably in the past 15 years, Ken Lloyd, author of “Performance Appraisals & Phrases for Dummies,” told HR Dive. That’s why he recently published an update to his book, he said. The biggest update? Performance reviews are now held much more often than annually, and continuous feedback between managers and direct reports is much more expected.

The percentage of workers surveyed by Gallup who said now is a good time to find a quality job — a steep drop from 70% who said the same in 2022. Workers, generally, report that they are struggling more than they are thriving in their lives, Gallup said, all amid a job market downturn that has prompted workers to stay with their current employers regardless of engagement level.
