Here’s a snapshot of numbers making waves in the HR space, including a deadline to submit comments on a proposed worker heat safety rule and employers’ plans to reskill workers.

The number of days the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission had planned to furlough staff to shore up the agency’s budget in late August. Republican lawmakers recently sent a letter to Chair Charlotte Burrows characterizing the budget shortfall that led to the furlough proposal as “evidence of significant mismanagement at EEOC.”

The share of workers who said they’re uncomfortable giving open and honest feedback to HR, according to a SurveyMonkey report. A majority of HR pros said they were concerned employees weren’t sharing feedback about their work experience.

The deadline for public comments on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s proposed rule that would create a heat injury and illness prevention standard for both outdoor and indoor workplaces. The rule would require employers to develop prevention plans for heat injury and illness and to provide water and rest breaks to workers when needed.
